Dreams

Explore the Subconscious Realm of Dreams...

Dreams are messages from our Higher Self, our subconscious or God, however you choose to look at it based on your own personal beliefs. All dreams are about you and your life. They are a powerful tool to increase your self-awareness, your wisdom and help accelerate your soul's growth.

Dreams are a venue through which you can work out your daily problems. It is our Higher Self giving us guidance, lessons, information, insights and encouragement along our path!

If we are confused or feel insecure, our dreams can be a form of reinforcement showing us that we are indeed on the right track, or occasionally showing us where we need to adjust our attitudes and beliefs.

How Dreams Help us Live a Healthier Life

Self-Image: Dreams are the mirror of the soul and bring us a clear view of ourselves and our current lessons to learn. They point out how we see ourselves, how we think others see us, and often how we appear to others as opposed to who we really are inside. These different aspects of ourselves are portrayed to us by the different people in our dreams. Sometimes we are aware that we possess a particular skill or personality trait and sometimes we are not aware and dreams help point out all of these things to us.

Attitudes: Often dreams will point out the misunderstandings or misconceptions which stand in the way of our progress regarding our attitudes, beliefs, prejudices, fears and circumstances affecting our daily lives. This allows us to recognize them and correct our difficult situations in a peaceful and loving way. Remember, our subconscious never chides us, it points out our problems in a loving and supportive way.

Relationships: Whether it is a personal love relationship, our relationships with parents, co-workers or friends, our dreams point out how we get along with others and will point out a particular difficulty we are having in a relationship. Sometimes we are aware of our behavior but most often we are not and dreams serve the purpose of showing us what we may be doing wrong.

Problems: We are continually faced with decisions in life, obstacles and problems that need to be solved. Our subconscious is our most powerful problem solver! We only need to ask. Deciphering the meaning of the solution of course requires practice. Sometimes the solution is clear, sometimes it isn't. Sometimes the solution just doesn't come to us. If we try to run away from our problems, eventually they turn into nightmares.

How To Remember Your Dreams

STEP 1 Eliminate any deterrents such as sleeping pills, drugs, alcohol, heavy spicy foods just before going to bed. Of course, if you are on prescription drugs, you must take them as prescribed, but be aware that they might affect your sleeping patterns.

STEP 2 Before going to bed, sit or lie quietly. Take a few deep breaths and tell your subconscious that you want to remember your dreams. Say to yourself "I WANT to remember a dream and I WILL remember a dream when I awaken". Repeat this to yourself (out loud, if possible) at least 3 times. This is called subconscious programming. In other words you are telling your subconscious what you want!

STEP 3 Put a pad and pencil next to your bed expecting to remember and write down your dreams. If you prefer, you may keep a tape recorder next to your bed. The second you awake, turn on the light and write down whatever images or feelings or impressions you may have. (Even if it's at 3 am!) Don't be discouraged if it takes you a while to start remembering. Even a vague feeling or symbol is a sign of progress! Eventually, you won't need to do this anymore because your dream recall will strengthen.

STEP 4 Buy a Dream Journal specifically to write down your dreams. Why is this important? Because as you transcribe your dreams to your pads of paper, you are permanently recording your dreams, further reinforcing your intent to your subconscious mind.

If you do not immediately write down your dream, you will forget it! Do not think that you will remember it later, because you won't. You are in an altered state of consciousness, that half-awake state when you first open your eyes. With practice, you will learn to bridge the gap between the levels of consciousness, but this will only happen by learning to remember AND write down your dreams.

The key to remembering your dreams and using dreams for problem solving is to be receptive to the best and highest solution offered to you by your Higher Self. You cannot fool your subconscious by "thinking" that you are open to the best possible solution when in reality you are afraid of knowing the truth.

Your subconscious will not waste energy in giving you solutions if it knows you are not open to accepting them. Ask yourself the following questions:

1. Do I really want to know what is best?
2. Or am I trying to get the answer I WANT to hear?
3. Am I really being open to the best solution or am I blocking my receptivity through fear??

Sometimes we ask for things that we really do not want to know. Particularly if the problem involves a decision over a major transition in our lives such as leaving a relationship, changing jobs, taking self-responsibility, etc... We don't always want to hear it... ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE....but the asking must be a sincere and honest wish to hear the truth.

Don't worry too much if you think you'll never be receptive. We ALL go through situations in our lives where we'd rather believe what we want to believe instead of seeing the truth. Opening ourselves up to seeing the truth is part of our soul's growth process. When we allow ourselves to see the truth, we accelerate our growth which in turn allows us to make the positive changes we desire in Life. It takes courage and patience, but the rewards are worth it!

7 Steps to Dream Recall

Step 1 Upon awakening, immediately write down the feelings about the dream. (e.g. panic, relief, etc..)

Step 2 Write down a list of Key Words in your dream. (e.g. Lake, swimming, meadow, sunny, old woman etc..) Try to remember as many details as possible. all details are important!!!

Step 3 Now summarize basic theme and "story" of dream.

You can do steps 1-3 immediately upon awakening and do the rest later that day, when you have more time.

Step 4 Write down the dream in detail, exactly as it happened, even if it is disjointed and the ideas or images don't seem to flow together.

Step 5 Write down the background setting of your dream. (e.g. In my house.. the one I grew up in as a child)

Step 6 What was the main theme of this dream?? (e.g. Sleeping in late and missing an Exam)

Step 7 DATE your dream and summarize in a sentence or two what is going on in your life currently.
